NAME: KAL            AGE:  36 years                 PROFESSION:    housewife

 1.

 WHERE DO YOU COME FROM?

I come from Turkey from the village of Karadona/Corurn.

2.

WHY DID YOU LEAVE YOUR COUNTRY/ PLACE OF RESIDENCE?

Because at that time there was poverty in Turkey and my father applied for a job to work in Germany. Germany looked for workers after the 2nd World War to reconstruct Germany. He was lucky, Didier- Werke needed Workers at that time and because of that he was sent to Eisenberg.

When he had a firm job, he fetched my mother, my two sisters and me to Germany.

3.

DID YOU COME ALONE OR WITH YOUR FAMILY?

The people were kind and tried to help as much as possible.

4.

IN WHICH WAY WERE YOU WELCOME?

In Germany the government cares for the population. You have a save income and a better future concerning family and children. I like the silence here, my neighbours and friends. And I love the nature here in this part of Germany.

5.

WHAT DO YOU LI KE AT YOUR NEW PLACE OF RESIDENCE?

I don’t like the hostility toward foreigners and the bad weather. You live here in Germany like a robot. The daily routine is always the same, at least during the week. Surely the hostility towards foreigners and that lots of other people look at us as second-class people.

6.

WHAT DO YOU MISS MOST OF ALL?

The hospitality of people, warm hearted feelings and the respect towards older people, the nice warm weather and living on the countryside. I miss all those things.

7.

HAVE YOU EVER REGRETTED YOUR DECISION TO GO AWAY?

No, we partly feel German, except our religion and language which are different.
