The aim of this activity is to assess how much rubbish is produced in the
different countries involved with the project, and to calculate how much of it
can and/or is recycled.
A known number of students will be chosen from the each school
These students will need to measure the quantity of rubbish that their
family produces in a week.
Students will be asked to fill in a table (forthcoming) so not only the
quantity but also the type of rubbish is also identified.
On the same table students will be able to indicate how much if any of
their family’s rubbish has been collected for recycling.
For this activity students will also be asked to interview members of
their local community to investigate views and attitudes toward recycling (questionnaire
is forthcoming)
Students will also need to enquire as to the local government policies on
trash collection and recycling.
Results, descriptions and explanations will be forwarded to The Fairfax
School, England for further analysis and collation into a booklet.
