“Most wanted profession in a European future” |
Hairdresser In my
opinion this job is always demanded. Nearly everybody likes having
well-groomed and healthy hair. The
requirements for this job are the “Hauptschulabschluss”(certificate
of compulsory basic secondary schooling) or the “Realschulabschluss”(school
leaving qualification awarded to pupils leaving the “Realschule” or
year 10 of the “Gymnasium”). In addition you must be able to stand
hours, often in uncomfortable position and in closed rooms. Hair-dyes
and hair colours can be allergenic. You are often in contact with water
and you mostly work alone. The period
of training is three years. During the first two years you learn how to
treat and clean hair with different remedies, different techniques how
to cut hair, how to create hairstyles, how to perm someone’s hair and
how to treat skin and nails. Of course,
you also learn how to deal with costumers. During your last year of
training you learn to make treatment plans and how to do cosmetic skin.
You have to pass an intermediate exam after 18 months of training and a
final exam at the end of the third year. Both exams are divided into a
written and an oral part. The duration of the final exam mustn’t
exceed 16 hours, i.e. six hours for the written exam and 10 hours at the
most for the practical exam. This job is
an acknowledged occupation that requires training. After my training I
would like to further my education as a make-up artist and work at the
theatre. Sabrina Lehmann, Eisenberg, 15 years |
